Model Minute

I know I’ve been neglecting one of the best segments of this blog for a while now. Here you are you literate sighted person, you! This posting is all about my new fave faces. No, in actuality they are far from new, but I think that they encompass what the fashion industry is hungry for in this age. No, they are not supermodels within my definition of the word, but the are recognizable whether you’re shopping at Zara and notice her on posters on the walls or tuning into the most recent installment of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. May I start gushing about Edita Vilkevi? I shortened her name for brevity. She has the best bone structure next to Natasha Poly HANDS DOWN! She is elegant, sophisticated, lady-like, and sweet. She is very young but that doesn’t stop her from fiercely dominating the runways every season. She works for the highest level fashion houses and has been in sexy campaigns for D&G, Versace and that orgy CK Jeans ad. Edita looks like one of those stylish girls that strolls around paris without a care in the world. She was born on New Years in 1989 in Lithuania. Happy bday Edita!

Toni Garrn is just turning 19 in July this year. So Young! Toni is the face of Cle de Peau and has been the face for a Versace fragrance. She has all the features of a perfect german girl: Natural blond hair, clear fair skin, crisp light blue eyes and stands tall measuring 5 foot 11! Wow, she’s made for the runway. Lara Stone, eat your german heart out! Then put a bra on and stop taking off your clothes any time you see a camera. Come on! This a family blog. Toni has also been a muse for Mr. Karl Lagerfeld aka K Lag. I see big things ahead for both Edita and Toni Garrn. Go girls!

I don’t usually get excited about models for one reason alone usually. Rose Cordero has impressed me not because of her personality, stage presence or street style. I love Rose because she is the only model walking major catwalks today with a full afro.

How many black models have you seen with anything other than a wig, weave, or buzz cut? Fashion+Afros/Locks= Not Allowed. She is a natural beauty and not afraid to be black. She is a true role model, and I hope she can be an influential icon for generations.

This installment of Model Minute has been brought to you by me.

She is the one who started the love affair. She has one of the brightest smiles in fashion to date. She is on the top ten list of blond bombshells the world has ever know. She is Heidi Klum !

I first started to become interested in modeling from looking at my mom’s Victoria’s Secret catalog. I would stare at pictures of Stephanie Seymore, Tyra, Naomi, and Leatitia Casta and wonder why they were considered the most beautiful women on earth. I studied their facial features and body shape. Heidi’s photographs always stood out from the rest. She has such a free spirit and she conveys it through her eyes. She is a true beauty from a humble beginning. Years later, I read her book, and fell in love with her wacky personality and profession drive for success. Even though she’s not my favorite model now, she inspired the love affair between fashion and I. Thanks girl !

So, my first Model Minute entry is to introduce my favorite model: Siri Tollerod.

Siri is a young, fresh, in demand model from Norway (voted in the top ten best places to live on earth). She has star power, a natural radiance, and shining personality. It comes as no wonder that she is a Leo born on August 18th. That is the last day in the week of leadership, which is why she leads the way on the top runways every season. Quute as can be!
